Guide to the Volunteer Process (Medical Campus) >> We strongly suggest that you contact our office first before completing the volunteer forms since the person may not be eligible or should have gone thru another office that requires different forms! This saves time for everyone.
Here are some guidelines to help you in the process:
-
Before completing any forms, first determine which office handles that volunteer and contact that office!
- List of contact offices
- E.g., Undergrad students (UM and non-UM) and Miami-Dade High School students for research-related activities go thru Allan Williams, prthomas@miami.edu, Office of Undergraduate Research (that office requires different forms/process)
- Medical Students go thru Evelyn Gotera, egotera@miami.edu, Medical Education (that office requires different forms/process)
-
If you then determine that your volunteer falls under our Faculty Affairs Office, then complete the Volunteer Eligibility Questionnaire by e-mail and/or contact our office before completing the forms.
- Domestic Observers (U.S. citizens/permanent resident) up to three months will be processed as courtesy appointments and are no longer under the Observership Program (Observership Program continues to handle foreign observers up to 3 months; see http://www.miami.edu/international-student/).
- Volunteer Program is restricted to U.S.citizens and permanent residents
-
If our office determines that the person is eligible for our Volunteer Program, then we will contact you to complete the Volunteer Forms.
- After the paperwork is completed and the background search is done, then we will e-mail the ID Office and copy the department stating that a badge has been approved.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
